I have large lock that has N.Y.G.S on left front and MOON on right front side with a 12” heavy duty chain attached. Key says G L and W R R S on it. Is it a RR lock and worth anything?

From the description alone, we wouldn’t be able to reliably identify, authenticate, or value an older railroad lock. If you send clear photos of the front, back, markings, lock, keys, and chain, we may be able to tell you whether it resembles something we carry, but we can’t provide formal appraisals.

What is the diameter of the shackle on the Southern Pacific "Railroad Cast Iron Lock with Chain & Brass Tag". Just bought this lock, and my contractor needs to know to build latches!
